In Linnet, the Duke is certain he has found someone that ticks all the boxes and given that he believes that Piers is actually unable to beget an heir, the fact that Linnet is believed to be carrying a royal child is only a plus, not a negative. ![]() His father, from whom is estranged, has been searching for a wife for him to carry on the family line and Piers, the Earl, told his father that he would marry only if his father found a woman who met all his (lengthy) requirements.
